Ten Hag's Position in Jeopardy: Zidane Masters English and Eyes Move to Manchester United

Zinedine Zidane has removed an important obstacle in replacing Erik Ten Hag to lead MU.

Recently, former midfielder Emmanuel Petit, Zidane's former teammate in the French national team, confirmed that Zizou actually learned English this year.

“Over the past few months, Zizou has been learning English,” Petit told DAZN. I don't know if he wants to come and coach in England but this is an open door. To me, Zizou starting to learn English means he changed his mind about leading a team in England.

Zidane is said to be a candidate to replace coach Ten Hag to lead MU

Zizou hasn't coached any team for a few years now and you need to stay sharp as a coach because football moves and changes very quickly. Admittedly, there are currently not many top teams in England for him to choose from. However, Zizou learning English means he is considering something."

Previously in a conversation with L'Equipe newspaper in 2022, Zidane admitted that there are some barriers that prevent him from leading a team in England. The former Real Madrid coach once shared: "I may not be able to go everywhere. Certain obstacles make things more difficult. Language for example.

When people say to me, ‘Do you want to go to Manchester?’ I understand English but I don't completely master it. I know that there are coaches who come to a club without speaking the language, but I am different."

Zidane once again emerged as the leading candidate to lead MU if the Old Trafford team fires coach Ten Hag. The Dutch strategist is under scrutiny. The "Red Devils" were just eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage and a defeat to Liverpool this weekend will certainly put more pressure on the former Ajax captain.

On March 13, The Sun newspaper reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is about to hold 25% of MU's shares, met with coach Graham Potter. The British billionaire considers the former Chelsea captain a potential candidate in his plan to replace coach Ten Hag.

At the same time, MU leadership still maintains contact with Zidane. If he leads the "Red Devils", Zidane will mark his return to military leadership after nearly three years of absence.
